Writing from Calgary, Gavin Ritson of Hatch had this to say: "In your article it states that 13% of hydrogen cyanide produced worldwide is used in the gold industry. HCN at atmospheric conditions is a highly toxic gas. The gold industry uses Ca(CN)2 and NaCN in a liquid form for leaching gold from slurries and elution of carbon."
CMJ thanks Mr. Ritson for the reminder.
