QUEBEC - The Foxtrot property, in particular the Renard 9 kimberlite, continues to yield beautiful, large stones for partners ASHTON MINING OF CANADA of Vancouver and SOQUEM of Quebec City. (This may account for STORNOWAY DIAMOND's announced intention to take over Ashton Mining; see news item above.) Ashton reported that two exceptional stones, a 1.70-ct clear, pale yellow octahedron and a 0.63-ct clear, colourless octahedron, were recovered in the most recent reverse circulation sample.
The sample totalled 71.3 tonnes. It returned 31.9 ct of diamonds or approximately 45 ct per hundred tonnes. The sample was collected by SOQUEM.
Ashton says four stones larger than 1.5 ct have been found this year at the Foxtrot property. At the end of June it reported that a 3.58- and 3.26-ct diamond were recovered. It has also recovered a diamond estimated to weigh between 1.50 and 2.00 ct, still embedded in a kimberlite chip.
More information about the Foxtrot property is posted at www.Ashton.ca.
