BLUE NOTE METALS of Montreal is pressing ahead with plans to reopen the Caribou and Restigouche mines in New Brunswick. It has hired Paul Laframboise as mill manager and Denis Doucet as general manager of the Caribou mine.

Vancouver's NORTH AMERICAN TUNGSTEN CORP. has named Wayne Osborne as general manager of its CanTung mine in the Yukon.

Linda Thorstad has been named president and CEO of Vancouver-based OREMEX RESOURCES. In addition to her many senior mining roles, she is past-president of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. as well as recipient of the 2002 Woman of Influence in Business Award.

NORSEMONT MINING of Vancouver has hired Robert Baxter as president and to be a member of the board. He also becomes general manager of Norsemont Peru SAC. Marc E. Levy will continue in his capacity as CEO and chairman.

Vancouver-based WESTERN KELTIC MINES has beefed up its management team for the Kutcho Creek copper-zinc project. John Goyman is VP of construction and operations; Dr. Robin Johnstone is VP of environmental and governmental affairs; Kimberley Horrocks is manager of environment and permitting; and Mike Padula is manager of engineering. The new employees previously worked at De Beers Canada's Snap Lake diamond project.

Tom MacLeod is the new regional general manager for HONEYWELL PROCESS SOLUTIONS CANADA.
