NUNAVUT - COMAPLEX MINERALS of Calgary and 22%-partner CUMBERLAND RESOURCES of Vancouver are encouraged by the results of this spring's drill program at their Meliadine West gold property near Rankin Inlet. Some of the best assays included 26.1 g/t Au over 2.3 metres, 22.7 g/t Au over 2.6 metres, 10.1 g/t Au over 3.8 metres, and 20.5 g/t Au over 16.7 metres. The last intersection also tested 26.8 g/t Au over 7.4 metres and 26.7 g/t over 4.5 metres.
Comaplex is encouraged to the point that it has built an all-season road between its exploration camp and Tiriganiaq deposit. All fuel and supplies necessary for a 17,500-metre drill program have also reached the site. Three or four rigs will be active on the site this summer testing the Tiriganiaq deposit (11,000 metres) and the high-grade Aqpik and Aklak surface gold showings (3,000 metres).
