NORTHERN ONTARIO - WOLFDEN RESOURCES of Thunder Bay, Ont., continues to intersect high-grade gold at its Bonanza project in the Red Lake Mining District. Recent drilling in the northerly Follansbee zone has intersected 10.86 g/t Au across 4.50 metres and 7.20 g/t Au across 13.40 metres in separate holes. Drilling in the southerly Bonanza zone has returned 12.21 g/t Au across 21.00 metres, 6.19 g/t Au across 16.10 metres, and 25.57 g/t Au across 2.70 metres in other holes.
All zones display vertical and horizontal continuity and contain significant widths of near-surface mineralization, suggesting the potential to develop a bulk tonnage gold deposit, says Wolfden. Many intersections contain narrower, higher-grade mineralization that may be amenable to underground mining.
Drilling will resume in mid-January, to expand and define the limits of mineralization to provide sufficient information for the development of a substantial gold resource. To-date, 96 holes have been drilled, intersecting gold mineralization in several zones over a total strike length of approximately 500 metres and to a maximum depth of 380 metres. Mineralization remains open along strike to the northeast and at depth.
