LACHINE, Quebec RAYMORE INDUSTRIES of Ste-Foy, Que., has chosen a site in Lachine, a borough of Montreal, for its high-purity lithium pilot plant. The company is designing a vacuum purifier to recycle lithium in a very high purity form. This piece of equipment will be unique in the world.

A 250 t/y commercial plant (which would cost $22.7 million) is planned.

Raymor is sole owner of the La Motte lithium deposit in the Abitibi region of Quebec. Results from drilling indicate a resource of 4.55 million tons grading 1.05% Li2O from the surface to a depth of 350 ft, which could supply the lithium project for a minimum of 20 years. The deposit includes by-products such as feldspar and mica. The company says this is the only North American lithium deposit that is suitable for open pit mining.

Moshe Zefrani of Raymor can be reached at 514-892-2603.
