LOAD MEASURING NEWS Take the Guesswork out of Haul Truck Loads

QUEENSLAND, Australia The new Trayscan technology promises to take the guesswork out of measuring haulage truck load volumes. CSIRO and the weighing machine supplier TRANSCALE PTY LTD have signed a six-month agreement to test the CSIRO technology on a commercial scale. Should it prove successful, Transcale can license the technology and rights.

Trayscan is an automated tool built around a laser system. It measures load volume in situ while the truck is moving. Coupled with a truck weighing system, it can estimate the density of each load. With a known density, engineers can design better truck bodies. Trayscan can also be used to characterize the texture of the load surface. This data is useful in estimating rock breakage for more efficient blasting.
