WHITEHORSE, Yukon Territory Exploration at the Skukum Creek property is going underground. A crew has been mobilized to extend the 1,300-m level to the Ridge zone 400 m away and conduct underground diamond drilling. The work also includes drifting along the Rainbow zone on the 1,225-m level. The property is owned by TAGISH LAKE GOLD of Vancouver.

Zones within the Skukum Creek deposit consist of polymetallic veins within fault zones. The fault zones pinch and swell, attaining widths of 1-10 m, although they may reach widths to 20 m. The veins are composed of quartz-sulphide with carbonates, clay minerals and rare barite. The quartz-sulphide veins often surround a rhyolite core. Strong propylitic and phyllic alteration is common adjacent to, and within, the veins. Six mineralized zones have been identified.

The measured and indicated resource is estimated at 800,000 tonnes averaging 6.77 g/t Au and 2.14 g/t Ag. There is also an inferred resource of 90,000 tonnes at 6.53 g/t Au and 225 g/t Ag. Tagish Lake hopes to identify a resources of 1.77 million tonnes as suggested in an earlier scoping study before committing to mine development.
