Vancouver-based NORTHERN STAR MINING CORP. continues to encounter significant gold mineralization on its 100%-owned Midway gold property, 16 km west of Val d'Or, Que. The project covers some 1,200 hectares straddling the prolific Cadillac Break, and includes the past-producing Malartic Goldfields mine, which produced over two million oz of gold to a depth of 2,900 feet. The three-compartment 2,700-ft-deep Malartic Goldfields #1 production shaft can be used for future access and development.

The ongoing drill program, which began in late 2003, consists of 50,000 feet of drilling centred on the area between the two production shafts of the Malartic Goldfields mine complex. It has so far resulted in the discovery of six new gold mineralized zones that, with the four previously known, bring the total known individual gold zones in the project to ten. The different gold zones remain generally open along strike and at depth.

Highlights include hole NSM 04-24 in the Midway zone, which returned a value of 0.419 opt Au over 41.5 feet, including 0.692 opt Au over 21.8 feet. A second zone (Midway 2) is located from 739 to 749 feet and returned a value of 0.276 opt Au over 8.7 feet. From 606-749 feet, hole NSM 04-24 returned a value of 0.246 opt Au over a true width of 77.4 feet. Hole NSM 04-25, drilled in the upper Halet zone, returned a value of 0.269 opt Au over 56 feet. Hole NSM 04-17 resulted in the discovery of a new zone returning 0.342 opt Au over 15.2 feet. For more information visit Northern Star's web site at www.nsmgold.com.
