WILLIAMS LAKE, British Columbia Drilling by IMPERIAL METALS at its Mount Polley mine has confirmed a significant body of copper-gold mineralization. The area of interest lies below the unmined Springer pit.
Assays from three of the four holes revealed 466.3 metres at 0.49% Cu and 0.36 g/t Au; 487.5 metres at 0.31% Cu and 0.25 g/t Au; and 514.8 metres at 0.25% Cu and 0.36 g/t Au. Results from the fourth hole are expected soon, says Imperial. Mineralization in the Springer zone consists mostly of copper oxides, making it a less attractive target due to low recovery of this type of mineralization in the Mount Polley mill. Drill sections are available at the company's website, www.imperialmetals.com.
Meanwhile, drilling and trenching in the Northeast zone resumed earlier this month. The drill program calls for at least 60 holes to expand and define this high-grade copper-gold-silver zone.
