MYANMAR Underground development and core drilling is underway at IVANHOE MINES' Modi Taung gold project in the central part of the country. The property contains a high-grade, gold-bearing vein that has been outlined by diamond drilling.
The current program focuses on defining additional ore offshoots along the strike extensions on multiple underground levels. The mineralized vein structures are up to 800-m long and open in both directions.
Metallurgical testing has shown the ore responded well to gravity recovery, and following that with flotation yielded a 96% recovery rate. The samples were also amenable to cyanidation.
