When the Afton copper smelter closed in 1983 and mining ceased in 1997, it looked like this venture had come to the end of the road. But if DRC RESOURCES has its way there may be another mining operation in British Columbia's future.
Last week the company announced the property has an indicated mineral resources of 37.7 million tons grading 2.32% Cu equivalent. Copper-gold mineralization has been traced over a length of 3,300 ft on the property and is open along strike and depth. One hole, DDH 2K02-65, returned assays of 1.65% Cu and 0.031 opt Au over 814 ft, including 387 ft of 2.20% Cu and 0.54 opt Au.
DRC continues to drill near Kamloops, B.C., as part of its $4.7 million program for Afton.
