Hilti has a productive to solution for installing ventilation curtains, cables or phone lines in underground mines. The DX 460 powder actuated fastening device is fast and convenient, speeding up numerous jobs without sacrificing safety. The DX 460 was tested for 45 days by crews in six underground coal mines and earned certification by the US Mine Safety and Health Administration.
The DX 460 is easy to use, says Hilti. To set a fastener, the operator loads one booster strip and fastener, positions the 4-lb device perpendicular to the back, wall or floor, and activates it. The device won't accidentally discharge even if dropped; it only works when deliberately pushed and held against a hard surface. This is only one of many built-in safety features. The DX 460 can install fasteners in a back up to 15 ft high using the optional extension pole. It has a 10-fastener magazine that will accommodate collated fasteners in diameters of - to 2-inches. It is particularly suited to coal and softrock mines.
