GRAPHITE: Canada Carbon tests sample from Miller property

QUEBEC – Canada Carbon of Vancouver has provided a 50-kg composite sample from its Miller graphite property 80 km west of Montreal in Grenville Twp. for metallurgical testing. The property hosts a past producing graphite and mica mine.

SGS Laboratories has been tasked with developing a flotation flowsheet that preserves the crystalline graphite structure and maximizes the economic value of the high purity ore. The fist batch cleaner flotation test confirmed that graphite recovery into a preliminary flotation concentrate was 98.2% from a head grade of 43.8% C. The concentrate graded 94.1% C.

SGS confirmed that all size fractions larger than 150 mesh yielded grades of at least 95.5% C. Also, 38.1% of the mass reported to the +80 mesh size fractions, producing a combined concentrate grade of 98.6% C.

Late last year, Canada Carbon said that it has successfully upgraded material from the Miller property to 99.9978% purity using a rapid thermal treatment in an inert atmosphere.
