ONTARIO – Alamos Gold of Toronto reports the highest grades from surface drilling in the Western extension at the Island gold mine near Wawa. High grades were also recorded from across the Main and Eastern extensions. [caption id="attachment_1003726446" align="alignright" width="300"] High grades have these employees at the Island gold mine smiling. (Image: Alamos Gold)[/caption] Results from the Western extension include surface hole MH16-03 with 152.07 g/t gold (36.74 g/t cut) over a true width of 5.0 metres. Other assays from that hole were 12.98 g/t gold over 6.4 metres and 9.64 g/t over 4.2 metres. These results successfully extended high grade mineralization 200 metres down plunge from the existing inferred resource. Surface hole MH17-01, drilled in the Main extension returned  56.60 g/t gold (44.03 g/t cut) over 4.81 metres; 45.14 g/t (34.73 g/t cut) over a true width of 3.14 metres; and 12.02 g/t gold over 3.68 metres. High grade mineralization has now been extended 90 metres above earlier intersections. The high grade material was extended up plunge and closed the gap with inferred resources in the Eastern extension. Alamos said the high grade mineralization is known to extend 1,000 metres east of the current mine workings and remains open to the east and down plunge. Underground drilling was carried out from the 450, 620, 730 and 840 levels to upgrade inferred to indicated resources. Cut grades and true widths included 45.64 g/t gold over 2.1 metres; 40.79 g/t over 2.2 metres; 33.45 g/t over 2.5 metres; 29.07 g/t over 2.7 metres; 18.48 g/t over 3.8 metres; 22.94 g/t over 5.3 metres; 17.74 g/t over 3.0 metres; and 33.33 g/t over 2.2 metres. More information from the current drilling program is posted at www.AlamosGold.com.
