SASKATCHEWAN - GL&V has received an order for the two largest skips ever to be built in North America. The two Rolachute units will be supplied by the company's Dorr-Oliver Eimco Orillia [Ontario] Mines Division for MOSAIC COMPANY's potash mine in Esterhazy. Mosaic is the new corporate identity of IMC Global and Cargill Crop Nutrition, which combined their businesses in 2004.

The skips each measure over 75-ft high and weigh approximately 68,000 lb. Due to their large size, the skips must be supplied in three sections for installation into the shaft. Each skip will be shipped in three pieces and assembled underground. Once the skips are operational they will be able to handle capacities up to 1,200 ft3, or 50 tons.

Dorr-Oliver Eimco is actively pursuing a role in the replacement and upgrading of mining equipment in all market sectors. Find out what the company can do for your operation by visiting www.glv.com.
